Roses of War

Nesta época de verão há um jardim que não pode deixar de ser visitado por quem mora ou visita Dublin, é o The Irish National War Memorial Garden que foi desenhado pelo famoso arquiteto britânico Sir Edwin Lutyens e construído em memória dos 49.400 soldados irlandeses mortos na Primeira Guerra Mundial.

On this summer period there is a garden you shouldn't miss if you live or are visiting Dublin, it's The Irish National War Memorial Garden, designed by the famous British architect  Sir Edwin Lutyens and built in the memory of the 49,400 Irish soldiers perished on the First World War.

Quando fomos tinha acabado de acontecer uma cerimonia com o presidente da Irlanda Michael Higgins, o primeiro ministro Enda Kenny e diversas outras autoridades para homenagear as vítimas da Batalha de Somme, considerada uma das mais violentas e sangrentas da Primeira Guerra Mundial e que está completando 100 anos.

When we went there, a ceremony just had happened with the Irish President Michael Higgins, the PM Enda Kenny and several other authorities to pay tribute to the victims of the Somme battle, considered one of the most violent and bloody on the First World War - which is reaching their 100th year.

A arquitetura é  muito bonita mas quem for no verão vai  poder admirar as lindas rosas de todas as cores que embelezam o jardim. São dois rosedais encantadores.

Architecture is very pretty, but whoever goes in the summer will be able to admire the beautiful roses of all colours, bringing beauty to the garden.
There are two lovely rose gardens.

A War Memorial Garden também é um excelente lugar se  procura um lugar calmo e cheio de natureza. Há pouquíssimas pessoas andando por lá.

War Memorial Garden is also é um excellent place if you looking for a quiet  spot and full of nature. There are very few people walking there.
