The Guinness Lake
A Irlanda ter uma infinidade de trilhas na natureza e hoje a gente vai te levar até a primeira trilha oficialmente inaugurada (1980) no país, a Wicklow Way.
Ireland has a multitude of nature trails and today we will take you to the first officially inaugurated trail (1980) in the country, the Wicklow Way.
The complete route has 131 km and to do it all will take you on average 7 days. The long walk starts in County Dublin, near Marlay Park and ends in County Carlow. This is one of Ireland's busiest trails and around 25,000 people a year frequent the most popular routes.
Today there are over 40 trails like this across Ireland reaching over 4,000 Km. The Wicklow Way has incredible scenery and most of the route is quite accessible. Obviously we did not make the complete trail, but the paths we did could give a good idea of all the beauty of the place.
You can visit the region by car (or take bus tours) without any problem! It is what most tourists prefer to do. At Wickow Way lies one of Ireland's most iconic lakes, the Lough Tay or as it is informally known The Guinness Lake and is named after it because the shape of the lake, the dark color of the water and the "foam" which is the clear sand, look like pint of this Irish beer.
This is a private area that belongs to the Guinness family so it is only possible to see the lake by far. Click here to know the best spot to see it. In the distance we can see some of the Guinness properties.
And since you are in Wicklow and walked through the mountains you will be hungry, so a stop at Avoca is a must.
