O Charles Fort é uma  bela fortificação do século 17 que fica há uns 30 minutos de caminhada do centro da cidade de Kinsale. Alguns trechos são de subidas, mas nada muito pesado. Até chegar lá dá para ir curtindo as bonitas paisagens:

Charles Fort is a stronghold from the 17th century, which is located around 30 minutes walking from Kinsale city centre. Some parts are uphill, but nothing very heavy. Until you get there you can enjoy the beautiful scenery:

A característica que chama mais a atenção neste Forte é que ele é em formato de estrela!!

The feature getting more attention on this fortress is the fact it is star shaped!!! 

Isso servia para protegê-lo de ataques de canhão. A arquitetura realmente impressiona!!! Pois é uma edificação que foi feita por volta do ano 1670. Foi declarado Monumento Nacional da Irlanda em 1971. Outra coisa que chama a atenção é sua excelente conservação.

This feature was used to protect themselves against cannon shooting. The architecture is really impressive, because this is a building made around 1670. It was declared Ireland National Monument in 1971. Another things that gets your attention is its excellent conservation.

O Charles Fort se manteve em funcionamento pelo exército britânico até 1922, ano em que a Irlanda conseguiu a sua independência. Na frente (do outro lado do rio) fica o James Fort mas que não está aberto a visitação.

Charles Fort was kept in operation by the British Army until 1922, year that Ireland got its independence. In front of it (on the other side of the river), you can see James Fort, but it is not opened to visitation.
