Winterval - Ireland's Xmas Capital

Winterval é um evento natalino  de Waterford, a cidade mais antiga da Irlanda e que a gente já fez um post completo aqui.  Uma característica muito bacana é que não se trata apenas de uma feira natalina e sim várias atrações espalhadas pela cidade, então por isso é conhecida coma a Capital do Natal na Irlanda. A gente conferiu algumas dessas atrações no último final-de-semana e te conta como é!

Winterval is a Christmas event in Waterford, the oldest city in Ireland and we've done a full post here. A very cool feature is that it is not just a Christmas fair but various attractions scattered throughout the city, so it is known as the Christmas Capital of Ireland. We checked out some of these attractions last weekend and let you know how it is!

Começamos com a Christmas Lunchtime Series na Waterford Crystal. Todos os fins-de-semana há apresentações musicais na Loja de Cristais, A gente assistiu um guitarrista muito bom! E o Alex aproveitou que estávamos na loja para me presentear com esta linda rosa de cristal.

We started with the Christmas Lunchtime Series at Waterford Crystal. Every weekend there are musical performances at the Crystal Shop, We watched a very good guitarist! And Alex took advantage of the fact that we were in the store to give me this beautiful crystal rose as a present.

Depois fomos dar uma passeada nas feiras. Que não são muito grandes mas há artesanato, bebidas quentes, lanches, roupas, etc. A gente comeu churros e tomamos um gingerbread Latte. As famílias podem se divertir tirando fotos na cadeira do Papai Noel ou no trenó, As crianças gostam muito do Helter Skelter, um escorregador da era vitoriana.

Then we went for a walk in the markets. They are not very big but there are crafts, hot drinks, snacks, clothes, etc. We ate churros and had a gingerbread latte. Families can have fun taking photos in Santa's chair or sleigh, Kids love the Helter Skelter, a Victorian-era slide.

Waterford Eye - Uma atração que nunca pode faltar é a roda gigante! E ela está colocada numa região onde é possível ver a cidade e o rio Suir. Vale a pena! Dá uma olhada nas fotos abaixo.

Waterford Eye - An attraction that can never be left out is the Ferris wheel! And it is placed in a region where you can see the city and the river Suir. It is worth it! Take a look at the photos below.

Há diversos outros brinquedos como a Roda Gigante Vitoriana (vintage Ferris Wheel), mini carroussel para crianças pequenas e a linda Golden Carroussel.

There are several other toys like the vintage Victorian Ferris Wheel, mini carousel for small children and the beautiful Golden Carroussel.

Os pais também podem levar as crianças ao Children's Grouplink  onde há vários personagens infantis conhecidos pela criançada.

Parents can also take the children to the Children's Grouplink where there are several characters known to the children.

Duas atrações ideais para as famílias também é o Winterval Horse Drawn Sleigh e o Express Train, ambos passeiam pelo centro de Waterford durante 30 minutos.

Two of the best family-friendly attractions are the Winterval Horse Drawn Sleigh and the Express Train, both strolling through central Waterford for 30 minutes.

Na região da Applemarket você vai encontrar diversas lojas, pubs e restaurantes ideais para descansar um pouco. Ali também há uma grande arvore de Natal e uma gigante caixa para o Papai Noel.

In the Applemarket area you will find several shops, pubs and restaurants ideal for a little rest. There is also a large Christmas tree and a giant box for Santa.

As ruas centrais estão decoradas com luzes natalinas.

The central streets are decorated with Christmas lights.

Há muitas outras atrações que não tivemos tempo de conferir como o Winterval On Ice, Winter Wonderbands, Spraoi's Winter Wonderland, etc.

There are many other attractions we did not have time to check out like Winterval On Ice, Winter Wonderbands, Spraoi's Winter Wonderland, etc.

Mas uma atração que você não pode deixar de conferir é a Winterval Illuminates, um festivo show de luzes que ocorre a cada meia hora a partir das 17 na Cathedral Sq. But one attraction you shouldn't miss is the Winterval Illuminates, a festive light show that takes place every half an hour from 5:00 pm on Cathedral Sq.
