Os Trovões na Irlanda - Thunders in Ireland
Julho foi muito bom em termos climáticos. Continuamos com temperaturas muito agradáveis que variaram de 12 até uns 21 graus Celsius e choveu muito pouco.
And as every post of the month, we are going to talk about the unstable weather in Ireland.July was a great month in climatic matters. We continue with very pleasant temperatures, which vary from 12 to around 21 Celsius, and it rained very little.
And it doesn't happen very often. According to local residents, some summers are very rainy. We continue with the long days with sunlight until 10PM at least. So it was a great month in which you were able to do all the outdoor activities you could.Aqui na Irlanda o trovão "salta" de uma nuvem a outra. Por isso o barulho é bem menos intenso. Tem muita gente que nem se dá conta, pois esse ruído é abafado pelos barulhos da rua e do dia-a-dia.
At the end of July we were able to witness a curious atmospheric phenomenon. We knew already that in Ireland thunders almost never happened. Up to this fact it was OK! But in a cloudy and warm afternoon we heard certain noises coming from the sky which got our attention. They were noises like if furniture was being pushed, and not very loud. In the beginning we didn't give much importance. But the noise continued. I started to find it odd and sent Alex a message telling him I was listening to some noises I was not able to identify. And to my surprise, he was also listening to the same noise, even being around 5 Km from our home. We were very puzzled, and started to investigate it. And we solved the mystery: In Brazil and in most of places, thunders happen from the cloud toward the earth, that is why we hear a strong noise. Here in Ireland the thunder "jumps" from one cloud to the other. This is why the noise is much less intense. Many people don't even notice, because this noise is muffled by the street and day by day noises.
On the warm summer months it is the strawberry season in Ireland. The berries are one of the few fruits locally produced in the country. They are very juicy and have a flavour I have never tasted before. I read in a newspaper that here they plant a kind of strawberry of difficult cultivation, but it compensates by the very superior result compared to the most common varieties of the fruit. This strawberry box we purchased directly from small farmers in Galway. Aren't they great?- Neste post comentamos como foi a experiência do nosso primeiro torneio de Golf. Aqui
