Blennerville Windmill - Maior Moinho da Europa - Highest Windmill in Europe

O moinho de vento mais alto da Europa  (com mais de 21 metros)  está na Irlanda num pequeno vilarejo chamado Blennerville a pouco mais de 1 Km da cidade de Tralee no Condado de Kerry.

The highest windmill in Europe (over 21 meters high) is located in Ireland, in a small town called  Blennerville, a little over 1 Km from the city of Tralee on County Kerry.

O moinho foi construído em 1800 com o objetivo de moagem de grãos, principalmente de trigo. Assim que você entra no centro de visitantes assiste um video sobre a história do local e há um pequeno museu onde se mostra a importância do trigo na Irlanda e seus principais derivados como o soda bread (já falamos sobre este pão típico aqui). The windmill was built in 1800 with the objective of milling grains, mainly wheat. As soon as you enter on the visitor center you watch a video on the history of the place and there is a small museum where it shows the importance of the wheat in Ireland, and also its main sub-products like soda bread (we have already spoken about this typical bread here). Durante muitos anos este moinho se manteve em atividade e foi muito importante para a região. Com o passar do tempo ficou em desuso e permaneceu em ruínas. 

During several years this windmill kept in activity and it was very important for the region. As time goes by it fell into disuse and it went into ruins.

Até que em 1981 o Conselho Distrital Urbano de Tralee resolveu comprá-lo e o reformou com a ajuda da população. 

But this was until 1981 when the Urban District of Tralee decided to buy it, and it was renewed with the help from the population.

Os visitantes tem total acesso a todo o interior do moinho que é dividido em vários andares. Cada nível faz uma determinada parte da moagem. No térreo já vemos os sacos de grãos. E neste andar não ficava nenhum maquinário.

The visitors have total access to all the interior of the windmill which is divided in many floors. Each level makes a certain part of the milling. On the ground floor we can already see the bags of grains. And on this floor there wasn't any machinery. 

Através de uma pequena escadinha você vai subindo aos andares superiores.
Through a little staircase you climb to the upper floors. 

No primeiro andar há acesso a um deck de onde se pode ter uma bela vista da região.

On the first floor there is an access to a deck from where you can have a great view of the region.

A medida que sobe vai encontrando com o maquinário de grande porte. Mesmo rústico tudo funcionava perfeitamente.

As you go up, you start finding the heavy duty machinery. Even being rustic everything works perfectly. 

Ao sair do moinho você encontrará uma estação de trem em miniatura. Que é um encanto e muito bem feita.

As you leave the windmill, you will find a railway station in miniature. It is a charm, and very well done. 

Na Blennerville Windmill você encontrará também uma pequena loja de souvenirs, uma cafeteria e se você tiver sorte com o tempo, uma área de picnic.

On Blennerville Windmill you will find a small souvenirs shop, a coffee shop, and if you are lucky with the weather, a picnic area.
