St Patricks Day 2017

Exatamente no dia 17 de março deste ano, no dia de St. Patrick, estávamos voltando para a Irlanda depois de algumas semanas no Brasil revendo familiares. Mas ainda pudemos participar de alguns eventos do St. Patrick's Festival que dura 4 dias.
O momento alto das festividades é o famoso desfile.

Exactly on March 17th of this year, on St Patrick's day, we were returning to Ireland after a few weeks in Brazil visiting our family. But we were still able to participate some St. Patrick's Festival events which last for 4 days.
The highlight of the festivities is the famous parade.
We have already followed a full parade here in Dublin, and we told everything on this post.

Para muita gente o St Patrick's Day é apenas um bom motivo para beber muito! Mas na verdade o espírito da celebração é outro. É um momento onde os irlandeses comemoram o orgulho de suas raízes e cultura.
A festa se expande para muitos outros países. Diversos monumentos e espaços públicos ficam verdes para lembrar a data. Movimento conhecido como Greening. Clique aqui.

To many people, St. Patrick's Day is only a good reason to drink a lot! But on the reality the celebration spirit is different. It is a moment where the Irish celebrate the pride of their roots and culture.
The party expands to several other countries. Several monuments and public spaces get green to honour the date. It is a movement called Greening. Click here.

Um dos eventos que fazia parte da programação do Festival era o Dublin Bay Prawn Festival no charmoso vilarejo pesqueiro de Howth. Nos surpreendemos com o movimento! O trânsito para chegar até Howth foi bastante demorado. Mas o Festival foi muito bem organizado apesar de estar tão lotado. Havia barraquinhas como todo tipo de frutos de mar. As filas eram grandes mas andavam rapidamente. 


One of the events part of the agenda was the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival on the charming fishing village of Howth. We got surprised with all the crowd! The traffic to get to Howth took forever. But the festival was very well organized despite being to full. There were stalls with all kinds of sea food. The queues were big but they moved quickly. 

Comemos camarões e Fish & Chips. Tudo muito saboroso. A organização montou grandes tendas para as pessoas  comerem as refeições. E também para se proteger do instável tempo irlandês. 

We had prawns and Fish & Chips. All very tasty. The organization put up big tents for people to have their meals. And also to shelter from the unstable Irish weather. 

A banda de rock era muito boa e tocava todo tipo de hits internacionais e irlandeses como Galway Girl.

The rock band was very good and played all kinds of international hits, as well as Irish ones like Galway Girl.

Para quem não queria comer frutos-do-mar também podia tomar um café e comer um Muffin.

For those not willing to have sea food, they could also have some coffee and a Muffin.

A entrada era gratuita e cada refeição custava €7. Também aproveitamos para caminhar por Howth, respirar o suave ar marinho e dar uma olhada nos habitantes mais ilustres de Howth. Os leões-marinhos!

Entrance was free and each meal cost €7. We also took a stroll along Howth harbour, breathing the smooth seaside air, and had a look at the most important inhabitants of Howth. The seals!

Outro evento gratuito que fazia parte do Festival foi o Big Day Out que ocorreu na Merrion Square com muitas performances e apresentações artísticas para toda a família, barraquinhas de comida e parque de Diversões. Quando a gente foi  quase todas as apresentações já tinham acabado mas deu para notar que rolou muita diversão por lá.

Another event that was part of the Festival was the Big Day Out which took place at Merrion Square with many performances and presentations for all the family, food stalls and amusement park. When we were there almost all the presentations had finished, but we were able to see people had loads of fun there.

E no St. Patrick's Day  nunca faltam as comidas e bebidas em tons de verde - como estes donuts ou este Green Tea Frappuccino da Starbucks.

And on St. Patrick's Day  you gotta have the food and drinks in shades of green - like these donuts or this Green Tea Frappuccino from Starbucks.
