O Tempo na Irlanda e o Calendário Celta

Vamos começar o ano de 2014 falando um pouco sobre o tempo na Irlanda, especialmente aqui em Cork. Este é um céu típico da cidade:

Let's start 2014 speaking a little about the weather in Ireland, mainly here in Cork. This is a typical sky seen from the city:

Estamos com inundações nestes últimos dias. Ontem vimos algumas ruas alagadas. O comércio coloca pequenas barricadas com sacos de areia nas portas para tentar controlar o avanço das águas.
Como dá para ver pelas fotos abaixo.


We are suffering from floods on the last few days. Yesterday we saw some streets under water. Local businesses put some barricades with sandbags on the doors to try to control the water going forward. 

Então as chuvas estão mais intensas do que nunca!! E vem normalmente acompanhadas de muito vento. É comum ver guarda chuvas nas lixeiras. Pois não resistem a tanto vento!!

Uma forma que achamos de minimizar o problema é comprar um guarda-chuva em formato de domo como este da foto.


So the rains are more intense than ever! And they are normally coming together with strong winds. It is common to see umbrellas in the trash cans, once they can't resist so much wind!
One way to minimize this problem is to get an umbrella shaped like a dome, as this one in the picture below.

Outra coisa bastante perturbadora destes dias de inverno são as poucas horas de luminosidade. O dia está amanhecendo lá por 8:40 da manhã e às 16:30 praticamente já é noite. Para a gente que está enfrentando o primeiro inverno europeu é bastante difícil. Já vimos uma luz com a luminosidade do Brasil à venda. Dá uma olhada aqui

 Mas a noticia boa é que a partir de agora a tendência é melhorar.


Another quite disturbing thing this winter days is the little hours of daylight. Sunrise is around 8:40AM, and around 4:30PM is dark again. For us facing the first European winter it is quite difficult. We already found available a kind of light with the Brazilian luminosity on sale. Have a look here.

 But the good news is that from now on, it is expected to improve. 

E lendo na internet sobre o assunto, vi que aqui na Irlanda existe o tal do calendário celta, que é diferente daqueles que conhecemos.

No calendário do hemisfério norte o inverno começou no dia 23 de dezembro, mas no celta teve inicio no dia 1 de novembro!!

Vamos fazer um comparativo com todas as estações

Calendário Celta Inverno - 1 de novembro a 31 de janeiro

Hemisfério Norte Inverno - 23 de dezembro a 21 de março

Calendário Celta Primavera - 1 de fevereiro a 30 de abril

Hemisfério Norte Primavera - 22 de março a 21 de junho

Calendário Celta Verão - 1 de maio a 31 de julho

Hemisfério Norte Verão - 22 de junho a 22 de setembro

Calendário Celta Outono - 1 de agosto a 31 de outubro

Hemisfério Norte Outono - 23 de setembro a 22 de dezembro.

Então seguindo o tal calendário celta o inverno terminaria já em janeiro!!!

Enfim, vamos ver o que este mês nos reserva.

And  reading about this topic on the Internet, I learned here in Ireland there is a Celtic calendar, which is different from the one we know.

On the Northern hemisphere the winter started on December 23rd, but on the Celtic one it started on November 1st already!

Let's make a comparison with all seasons:

Winter Celtic Calendar - November 1st to January 31st

Northern Hemisphere Winter - December 23rd to March 21st

Spring Celtic Calendar - February 1st to April 30th

Northern Hemisphere Spring - March 22nd to June 21st

Summer Celtic Calendar - May 1st to July 31st

Northern Hemisphere Summer - June 22nd to September 22nd

Autumn Celtic Calendar - August 1st to October 31st

Northern Hemisphere Autumn - September 23rd to December 22nd.

So according to the Celtic calendar, winter ends in January already!
