Chocolates Típicos de Natal na Irlanda - Typical Christmas Chocolates in Ireland

Nada mais apropriado para esta época festiva do ano do que comer chocolates!

Nothing more appropriate for this festive time of the year than eating chocolates!

Há duas marcas que são muito típicas nas casas irlandesas: Roses (da Cadbury) e Street Quality (da Nestle). São bombons variados que vem normalmente em latas. Nas redes sociais os irlandeses vem reclamando que as latas vem diminuindo ano após anos.

There are two very typical brands on the Irish homes: Roses (from Cadbury) and Street Quality (from Nestle). They are varied bonbons which usually come in tins. On the social network, the Irish are complaining the size of the tins has been decreasing year after year.

Então resolvemos comprar as duas marcas, provar os bombons e mostrar aqui tudo no blog.

So we decided to buy both brands, taste the bonbons and show you everything here on  the blog.

Quality Street (Nestle)

A gente optou por comprar caixas com os bombons pois já são chocolates suficientes para duas pessoas. 
A caixa da Quality Street (339 gramas) é  roxa e vem com 12 variedades diferentes. Vamos a elas?

We decided to buy bonbon boxes once they are enough chocolate for two people already.
The box from Quality Street (339g) is purple and comes in 12 different varieties. Let's check them?

Caramel Swirl

Recheio de caramelo cremoso. Um dos meus preferidos.
Creamy caramel filling. One of my favorite.

The Green Triangle

Chocolate ao leite puro /Pure milk chocolate

Toffee Finger

Tem formato alongado e recheio de toffee de textura pegajosa.
It has an extended shape and toffee filling of sticky texture.

Fudge

Tem a textura macia de um fudge, por isso o nome do bombom.
It has the smooth texture of a fudge, reason why the name bonbon.

Orange Creme

Recheio super cremoso com sabor a laranja, meu segundo preferido.
Super creamy filling with orange flavour, my second favorite.

Milk Chocolate Block

Chocolate ao leite puro, muito parecido ao Green Triangle.
Pure milk chocolate, very similar to the Green Triangle.

Toffee Penny

Este é como uma bala de toffee muito pegajosa.
This is a very sticky toffee candy.

The purple One

Recheio de caramelo e com uma noz inteira. Muito gostoso.
Caramel filling and with a whole nut. Very tasty.

Orange Chocolate Crunch

Como indica o nome é de laranja com recheio levemente crocante.
As the name says, orange with a light crunchy filling.

Toffee Deluxe

Outro com recheio pegajoso de toffee.
Another one with sticky toffee filling.

Strawberry Delight

Recheio cremoso de morango.
Creamy Strawberry Filling.

Coconut Eclair

Recheio denso de coco.

Roses (Cadbury) 

A caixa (321 gramas) dos bombons Roses é azul e com uma rosa estilizada vermelha na frente. Há 11 variedades diferentes.

The box (321g) of bonbons Rose is blue and with a stylized red rose in the front. There are 11 different varieties.

Todo de chocolate com sabor avelã

Hazel in Caramel 
Avelã inteira e caramelo, muito bom!
Whole hazelnut and caramel, very good!

Almond Caramel Bite
Caramelo duro e pedaços de amêndoas.
Hard caramel and pieces of almonds.

Signature Truffle
Tem o formato de uma rosa, é todo de chocolate.
It has the shape of a rose, all chocolate.

Golden Barrel
Tem o formato de um barril e recheio de caramelo. Delicioso.
It has the shape of a barrel and caramel filling. Delicious.

Strawberry Dream
Recheio cremoso de morango. Deve ser um dos preferidos das crianças.
Creamy strawberry filling. It must be children's favorite.

Brazilian Darkness
É com chocolate escuro, tem um recheio que não consegui identificar muito bem. Talvez castanha.
It has dark chocolate, with a filling difficult to identify. Maybe Brazilian nut.

Coffee Escape
Muito bom para quem gosta da combinação chocolate e café.
Very good for the ones who enjoy the chocolate and coffee combination.

Tangy Orange Creme
Recheio cremoso de laranja.
Creamy orange filling.

Country Fudge
Recheio de caramelo
Caramel filling.

Caramel
Este como indica o nome é de caramelo mas de
consistência mais pegajosa que o anterior.
This one as it mentions is caramel, but it has a more sticky consistency than the previous.

Cada caixa custa em torno de €4.
Achei as duas marcas bastante parecidas mas gostei um pouco mais dos bombons da Quality Street. Mas claro, isso é algo muito pessoal. 
Estes chocolates são uma verdadeira tradição na Irlanda mas são de multi nacionais, Cadbury e Nestle. 
Mas se quiser um chocolate autenticamente local o da Butler's é delicioso. A gente já falou sobre a marca aqui.

Each box costs around €4.
I thought the two brands are very similar, but I liked Quality Street bonbons a little bite more. Burt of course, this is something very personal.
These chocolates are a real tradition in Ireland but they belong to multinational companies - Cadbury and Nestle.
But if you want an authentic local chocolate, the one from Butler's is delicious. We have already spoken about this brand here.
