Galway Christmas Market
We decided to take a daytrip this weekend and visit the Galway Christmas Market, which is held for the eighth consecutive year. The fair is very complete and well worth a visit.
In the entertainment part the main attraction is the 32 meters high giant wheel. Do not miss out a ride on it! Seeing the beautiful Galway from above is a great program.
But there are also other games and stalls for you to try and win a Santa or Elf or have fun on a vintage carousel or a helter skelter, a type of toboggan you can see in the photos.
Another option for families is the Santa Express, the kids love it. For small groups, a chariot ride can be a lot of fun.
The market takes place in Galway's central square, called Eyre Square - and there are over 50 wooden stalls with Christmas decorations.
There are options of Christmas gifts, crafts and food to suit all tastes. Our suggestion is to take a walk through the market and then return to the ones you prefer. Alex, for example, could not resist these hamburgers.
I wanted to taste the chimney cake, which according to what was written in the stall is one of the oldest sweets in the world and it is from the region that is currently Romania. It's delicious!!
And once it was cold, a Maple Spice Chai Latte was a great idea.
In this white tent there are many choices of beers, Mulled Wine and alcoholic beverages.
The decoration of the fair was very beautiful! What most caught our attention was the Gingerbread House! Lovely.
And since you are in Galway be sure to take a stroll and check out the Christmas decor of the central streets.
There are dozens of choices for pubs, one of the most iconic being the King's Head.Agora há apenas pequenos espaços e feiras como este que ocorreu em Stoneybatter, onde alguns vendedores expuseram seus produtos em um galpão.
In Dublin there are no big Christmas markets, the last one that took place in the city was this one, which we showed you here in Welcome to Ireland. Now there are only small spaces and markets like this one that took place in Stoneybatter - where some sellers exposed their products in a shed.
