Hole in the Wall Pub in Dublin

Estes últimos dias têm sido de muita chuva e frio. Então nada melhor do que um lugar aconchegante e aquecido! E como estamos na Irlanda esse lugar tem de ser um pub, e no Hole in the Wall, além de se aquecer das baixas temperaturas você vai encontrar uma das decorações mais caprichadas para o Natal! Os donos demoram mais de duas semanas para deixar tudo pronto. O pub é de 1651 e antes de entrar, dê uma olhada nas janelas, pois todas estão detalhadamente decoradas.

These last few days have been giving us a lot of rain and cold. So nothing better than a warm and cozy place! And as we are in Ireland this place has to be a pub, and in the Hole in the Wall, besides warming up from the low temperatures you will find one of the most perfect decorations for Christmas! Owners take more than two weeks to get everything ready. The pub is from 1651 and before you enter, take a look at the windows as they are all decorated in detail.

O Hole in the Wall é um dos pubs mais longos da Irlanda, com o passar dos anos o espaço foi aumentando, de frente parece ser um pequeno salão mas os espaços vão se sucedendo...

The Hole in the Wall is one of the longest pubs in Ireland, over the years the space has been increasing, from the entrance it seems to be a small hall but then new spaces come right after...

O curioso nome se deve ao fato que os soldados que trabalhavam no Phoenix Park não podiam sair para tomar uma pint. Então como o pub está ao lado do parque, a saída foi fazer um buraco no muro e assim os funcionários do pub poderiam passar as pints aos soldados de forma prática e rápida. O buraco está lá até hoje!

The curious name is due to the fact that the soldiers who worked in Phoenix Park could not go out to have a pint. Then as the pub is next to the park, the solution was to make a hole in the wall and so the pub staff could pass the pints to the soldiers in a practical and quick way. The hole is there until today!

Ao lado do buraco há também um beer garden.

Em dias frios a lareira está sempre acesa.

On cold days the fireplace is always lit.

Dentro do pub há uma loja de bebidas alcoólicas. E você pode comprar ao seu vinho ou cerveja ali e consumi-la no restaurante.

Inside the pub there is a liquor store. And you can buy your wine or beer there and have it in the restaurant.

No restaurante, se você quiser apenas petiscar algo com os amigos as Tapas podem ser uma ótima opção. A gente preferiu pedir o Supreme Chicken e o Gourmet Beef Burger. Ambos muitos bons mas o prato de frango é bastante pequeno. A quantidade de purê servida foi ínfima. Era o equivalente a uma colher de sopa de purê.

In the restaurant, if you just want to grab something with friends the Tapas can be a great option. We preferred to order the Supreme Chicken and the Gourmet Beef Burger. Both were very good but the chicken dish is quite small. The amount of puree served was tiny. It was the equivalent of a tablespoon of puree.

Também há massas, saladas, peixe e sobremesas. Há música ao vivo toda terça-feira e sábado, e um amplo estacionamento. Então se está querendo entrar no clima natalino em Dublin, o pub Hole in the Wall e seus quase 370 anos de história é uma excelente opção!

There are also pasta, salads, fish and desserts. There is live music every Tuesday and Saturday, and many parking spaces. So if you're looking to get into Dublin's holiday mood, the Hole in the Wall Pub and its nearly 370-year history is a great choice!
