Easter Rising Flavours

A gente vem comentando sobre o Easter Rising há vários meses. Tanto aqui no blog como nas nossas redes sociais Facebook (aqui) e Instagram (aqui). O Easter Rising foi um movimento que ocorreu em 1916 e que lutou pela independência da Irlanda.
E um PUB aqui em Dublin fez um menu de 3 pratos com comidas típicas daquela época.

We have been talking here for a few months about the Easter Rising. Here in the blog and also on our social networks Facebook (here) and Instagram (here). The Easter Rising was a movement from 1916 which fought for Ireland's independence. And a PUB here in Dublin made a 3 course menu with typical food from that period.

Nas fachadas vemos que ele se denomina um "Kerry PUB in Dublin" e podemos ver algumas fotos de personalidades nascidas naquele condado como o explorador Tom Crean e o artista Jerome Connor.

In front of the building we can see it calls itself a "Kerry PUB in Dublin" and we can see some pictures of personalities born on that county like the explorer Tom Crean and the artist Jerome Connor.

A decoração é toda de madeira e acolhedora e quando não há música sempre tem alguma TV ligada mostrando algum jogo.

Decoration is all made of wood and very cosy, and when there is no music there is always a TV on showing some match.

Mas voltando ao menu chamado de Rising Memorial Menu que apresenta pratos populares servidos em 1916 e são usados ingredientes 100% irlandeses para a elaboração dos mesmos. 

But going back to the menu called Rising Memorial Menu - it presents popular dishes served in 1916 and the ingredients used to make them are 100% Irish.

West Kerry Sausage with Boxty Potato and Onion Gravy

Salsichas do Oeste de Kerry com batatas Boxty e molho de tomate e cebolas. O molho estava delicioso. Há muito tempo não experimentava um molho tão saboroso.

West Kerry sausages with Boxty potatoes and tomato and onion sauce. The sauce was delicious. It has been a long time I didn't taste such a delicious sauce.

Irish Stew with Colcannon

O ensopado irlandês é um dos pratos mais típicos do país. Sempre levando muitos vegetais (nunca pode faltar a batata entre eles) e pedaços de carne de cordeiro que era a carne de mais fácil acesso naquela época. E sobre o colcannon a gente também já fez um texto explicando como é, clica aqui.

The Irish stew is one of the most typical dishes in the country. It always takes several vegetables (potaoes are always among them) and parts of lamb which was the meat easier to find in the period. And about the colcannon we also have a text about it explaining what is is, click here.

Sobremesa / Dessert
Trifle

Trifle é uma sobremesa que não pode faltar nas mesas irlandesas em dias de celebrações. Que basicamente são camadas de bolo, geléia de frutas vermelhas, creme e chantilly por cima.
Tudo é muito gostoso e bem preparado. E é interessante notar que os pratos que se faziam 100 anos atrás são basicamente os mesmos de hoje em dia.
O menu com os 3 pratos custa €20 e vem acompanhado com um copo de Guinness. E de fundo uma autêntica música irlandesa.
O atendimento é muito cordial e você se sentirá muito bem-vindo.

Trifle is a dessert that is always present on the Irish tables on celebration days. It is basically layers of cake, red berries jam, cream and chantilly on top.
Everything is very tasty and very well prepared. And it is interesting to notice the dishes made 100 years ago are basically the same until current days.
The 3 course menu costs €20 and brings also a glass of Guinness. And on the background is playing authentic Irish music.
The service is very kind and you will feel very welcomed.
