Os Cabos na Irlanda - The Heads in Ireland

No nosso último post a gente comentou que tínhamos feito uma road trip pela Irlanda e que íamos compartilhar tudo aqui no Welcome to Ireland.

No texto de hoje vamos falar sobre os cabos (heads em inglês) que conhecemos na nossa viagem pelo sudoeste da Ilha Esmeralda. 

On our last post, we mentioned we had made a road trip in Ireland, and we would shat everything here at Welcome to Ireland.
On today's writing, we will talk about the capes / heads of land (or just heads) which we visited in our trip to the Southwest of the Emerald Island.

Lembrando que cabo, geograficamente falando, é "um acidente geográfico formado por uma massa de terra que se estende pelo oceano". Alguns o conhecem também como "pontas".

Just reminding that a head, or cape, geographically speaking, is "a geographic accident formed by a mass of land which is extended until the ocean".

Veja abaixo no mapa da Irlanda, no sudoeste,  é uma região bastante "recortada" com diversos cabos.


Look below on Ireland's map, the southwest is a very well "cut" region with many heads.

OLD HEAD OF KINSALE 

Este cabo como já indica o nome é bem perto da cidade de Kinsale (leia sobre Kinsale aqui). Infelizmente foi aberto um campo de Golf no cabo e o acesso está proibido ao público. Há um movimento chamado "Free the Old Head Kinsale Campaign" que pretende restaurar a visitação pública a este belíssimo cabo. Já que era de livre acesso à população e visitantes durante centenas de anos e está fechado desde 1997. Tomara que esta campanha consiga devolver o acesso ao público em geral pois é injusto que o campo de Golf  "feche" um local tão bonito e que sempre foi aberto. Estas são as fotos que pudemos tirar da região.

This head as the name already says is very close the the town of Kinsale (read about Kinsale here). Unfortunately it was opened a Golf course on the head, and the public access has been prohibited. There is a movement called "Free the Old Head Kinsale Campaign" - which intends to restore the public visitation to this lovely head, once it had free access to population and visitors during hundreds of years and it has been closed since 1997. We hope this campaign can restore the general public access because it is unfair that a Golf course "closes" a place that is so beautiful and which had always been opened. These are the pictures we were able to take on the region.

GALLEY HEAD

Em Galley Head também nos encontramos com acesso fechado ao público, vimos uma placa dizendo "private property, keep out". Com umas palavras tão pouco amistosas nem pensamos em chegar perto. Mesmo assim deu para tirar algumas fotos bonitas do pouco que pudemos ver.

In Galley Head we also faced a closed access to the public, we saw a sign written "private property, keep out". With not very friendly words, we didn't even think in getting closer. Even so, we were able to take some beautiful photos from the little we were able to see.

MIZEN HEAD

No cartaz da entrada dá para ver uma foto de como é Mizen Head em dia de sol.

Estávamos muito entusiasmados para visitar os lindos cliffs de Mizen Head (um dos principais pontos turísticos do condado de Cork) mas o tempo que vinha sendo muito camarada durante todo o verão resolveu fechar exatamente nesse dia!!! 

 Sabe aquele dia terrível de muita névoa, vento e forte chuva,  onde fica difícil ver poucos metros à frente??? Imagine ver cliffs com um tempo desses. Chegamos até o centro de visitantes, mas não pudemos ir além. Este é o terrível tempo que pegamos (compare a grande diferença com as fotos de Galley Head acima).
Mas pudemos ir outras vezes a Mizen Head com um tempo muito melhor. Confira aqui.

We were very excited to visit the beautiful cliffs on Mizen Head (one of the main touristic places on Cork County), but the weather which was being nice during all the summer decided to close exactly on this date!!!
Do you know that terrible day with a lot of fog, wind and strong rain, where it is difficult to see a few meters in from of you??? Imagine seeing the cliffs with such a weather. We arrived at the visitor's center, but we couldn't go beyond it. This is the terrible weather we got (compare the difference with the Galley Head pictures above).

Este é o centro de visitantes de Mizen Head. Só pudemos pedir uma torta de maçã e ir embora.

Sheep´s Head

Em Sheep's Head tivemos a mesma falta de sorte com o tempo! Sendo que para chegar até lá é bastante complicado. A estrada é beeemmm estreita e irregular. Veja que "lindo" tempo para ver paisagens:
Neste outro dia o tempo era muito melhor. Clique aqui e confira. 

In Sheep's Head we had the same bad luck with the weather. And to get there is very complicated. The road is very narrow and irregular. Check out the "beautiful" weather to see the landscapes: 

A chuva e o vento eram tão intensos que tivemos que ir embora sem ver nada. Há várias trilhas para caminhadas por ali.  Assim é Sheep's Head num dia de sol:

The rain and the wind we so intense we had to leave without seeing anything. There are several hiking tracks there. This is how Sheep's Head  look like in a sunny day:

SLEA HEAD DRIVE

Slea Head Drive é uma estrada circular que começa e termina em Dingle (condado de Kerry, os outros 4 cabos ficam em Cork). 

Há várias atrações durante o trajeto que você pode ir conhecendo como a encantadora Ventry Village (onde quase todas as placas estão em gaélico) ou os Irish Cottages Famines, que são as casas em que os irlandeses moravam na época da grande fome no século 19.

Mas o melhor mesmo são as deslumbrantes paisagens de Slea Head!!! Prepare a sua câmera fotográfica pois são paisagens lindas e você vai querer guardar um registro delas.

Slea Head Drive is a circular road which starts and ends in Dingle (Kerry county, the other 4 heads are in Cork). There are many attractions along the way which you can visit like the lovely Ventry Village (where all the sign are in Irish) or the Irish Cottage Famines, which are the houses the Irish lived in the time of the great famine on the 19th Century.
But the best are the stunning landscapes of the Slea Head!!! Prepare your camera because they are beautiful landscapes and you will be willing to keep a record of them.

Alguns trechos são bem sinuosos e estreitos. Com o precipício de um lado e montanhas de pedra do outro!!! Mas vale a pena com toda certeza!!! Nestas praias foram rodadas algumas cenas do filme a Filha de Ryan.

Some parts of the road are very sinuous and narrow. With the precipice on one side and the mountain on the other!!! But it is worth for sure!!! Some parts of "Ryan's Daughter" were recorded on these beaches.
