Ha'Penny Bridge 200 Years
It was the first exclusive pedestrian bridge built on the Irish capital. And once it was done, it ended the ferry service they had to take people from one side to the other on the Liffey River.
Officially the bridge's name was Wellington Bridge, but it started being called Ha'Penny (half penny) bridge because this was the toll charged for crossing, which was created to help the owners of the ferries who were left with no customers after the bridge was built.
The toll just stopped being charged more than a century later, in 1919, and it was the only exclusivelly pedestrian bridge until the year 2000 when the Millenium Bridge was built.
It has a really enchanting and romantic architecture. Many couples like to place the traditional locks on it. Dublin City Hall organized several events to celebrate these 200 years of much history. In one of the the Lord Mayor crossed the bridge with the descendents of the architect in charge of projecting the bridge.

HISTORY
Sempre muito cheia de gente, turistas tirando fotos (tive que me desviar ontem dos selfie-sticks) e dos moradores se movimentando entre D1 e D2. Bonita historia nestes seus 200 anos :-)
