Na pequena cidade de Midleton (a 23 km da cidade de Cork e a 259 KM de Dublin) está aberta para visitação durante todo o ano a The Jameson Experience, na Old Midleton Distillery. Jameson é o whiskey mais famoso irlandês.

At the small town of Midleton (23 Km from Cork City and 259 Km from Dublin), it is open for visitation along the year The Jameson Experience, at the Old Midleton Distillery. Jameson is the most famous Irish whiskey.

Há também uma visita à antiga fábrica da Jameson em Dublin, que é legal também. O ideal é fazer as duas visitas. Como nós fizemos. A da capital conhecemos há alguns anos.

There is also a visit to the old Jameson factory in Dublin, which is also nice. The ideal is visiting both, as we did. The one in the capital we visited a few years ago.

Primeiro, um esclarecimento. Só tem o "direito" de usar a grafia "Whisky" os de origem escocesa. Todos os outros tem que ser WhiskEy.

First of all, a clarification: The "right" of using the spelling "Whisky" belongs only to the ones from Scottish origin. All the others have to be spelled WhiskEy.

As visitas acontecem 4 vezes ao dia e são guiadas.
A destilaria se manteve em operação por 150 anos, de 1825 até 1975. Quando fechou, os funcionários simplesmente só tiveram que se mudar para as novas instalações que estão ao lado.

The visits happen 4 times a day and they are guided. The distillery was in operation for 150 years, from 1825 until 1975. When it was closed, the employees just had to move to the new installations which are next to this one.

Casa do "Master Blender", que morava na destilaria com toda a família. Agora é usada para atividades administrativas.

House from the Master Blender, who lived in the distillery with all his family. Now is is used for administrative activities.

A visita realmente vale a pena pois o local se manteve intacto e super bem conservado! Como você pode acompanhar pelas fotos do post.
O tour começa com a exibição de um vídeo sobre a história da Jameson. Depois a gente vai conhecendo quase todas as instalações e vendo o passo-a-passo para se fazer a bebida: a moagem, maltagem, os fornos, granários, armazéns, a autêntica roda-d´água. Lá também está o maior alambique do mundo com capacidade para 141 mil litros.

The visit is really worth, because the place was kept intact and super-preserved, as you can see in the pictures from this post!
The tour starts with the exhibition of a video about the history of Jameson. After we get to know all the facilities, and we see step by step how to make the beverage: the milling, malting, ovens, granaries, warehouses, the authentic water-wheel. The largest pot still in the world is also located there , with a capacity of 141 thousand litres.

Nesta antiga destilaria eram feitos outros outros tipos de Whiskey, além do Jameson.

A hora da degustação é muito interessante. Pois vemos as diferenças de entre os principais Whiskies do mundo: o escocês, o bourbon e o irlandês. E sinceramente o irlandês foi o melhor para o nosso gosto. Pois é o único que tem tripla filtragem, o que deixa o sabor mais suave que os seus similares.
O Alex até ganhou um diploma de degustador de Whiskey!

The time of the tasting is very important, because we see the difference among the main Whiskies in the World: the Scottish, the Bourbon and the irish. And frankly speaking, the irish was the best for our taste, because it is the only one with triple distilled, which makes it softer than its similars.

Alex even won a Whiskey Taster Diploma!
