Bunratty Castle: De volta à época medieval - Back to the Medieval Ages

No condado de Clare ficam os deslumbrantes Cliffs of Moher, penhascos belíssimos e que são uma das principais atrações da Irlanda. Mas o condado tem outras boas atrações como o Bunratty Castle, construído em 1425. Durante os séculos 16 e 17 foi o bastião importante dos O'Briens que mais tarde viriam a ser os Condes de Thomond. Uma particularidade muito interessante deste castelo é que ele está mobiliado com peças do século 15 e 16 o que faz com que a visita fique muito mais interessante e completa.

On County Clare are the great Cliffs of Moher, beautiful cliffs which are one of the main attractions in Ireland. But the county has other good attractions like the Bunratty Castle, built in 1425. During the 16th and 17th centuries, it was the important stronghold from the O'Briens, who later became the Thomond Earls. An interesting peculiarity of this castle is that it is furnished with pieces from the 15th and 16th centuries, which makes the visit even more interesting and complete.

Bunratty Castle was a medieval and walled fortress. We can still observe the canons and the walls.

Porão / Basement

A sala que fica no sub-solo era usada como estábulo do castelo. Hoje há uma exposição que conta os detalhes do castelo e a reforma que ocorreu de 1954 a 1960.

The room located on the underground was used as the castle stable. Today there is an exhibition which tells the details of the castle and the renovation that took place from 1954 to 1960.

Sala da Guarda / Guardroom

Esta sala abobadada foi o salão principal dos soldados e dos criados do conde. Hoje é usado para fazer banquetes medievais muito parecidos com este (clique aqui) que o Welcome to Ireland já te mostrou. Vários do móveis são do século 15 e 16. 
Uma pequena portinha leva ao calabouço onde eram colocados os presos.

This vaulted room was the main hall for the Earl's soldiers and servants. Today it is used to do medieval banquets very similar to this one (click here) which Welcome to Ireland has already shown you. Much of the furniture is from the 15th and 16th centuries.
A small door takes you to the dungeon where the prisoners were kept.

Quartos do Capitão/ Captains Quarters

Este quarto era do capitão da guarda. Há muitos detalhes no mobiliário, e até no teto decorado.

This room was from the Guard Captain. There are many details on the furniture, and even at the decor on the ceiling.

O Grande Salão / The Great Hall

Este é o salão de banquetes original e sala de audiência dos condes de Thomond. A tapecaria são belgas e francesas. O armário de carvalho é de 1570.

This is the original banquet hall and audience room for the Thomond Earls. The tapestry is Belgian and French. The oak cupboard is from 1570.

Cozinha do Conde / Earl's Kitchen

Aqui eram preparadas as refeições para o banquete do Grande Salão. Os cascos das tartarugas eram usados como bandeja, prato e tampa.

Here were prepared the meals for the banquet on the Great Hall. The turtle shells were used as a tray, plate and lid.

Dormitório do Conde / Earl's Bedroom

O quarto do conde está mobiliado com uma rica cama entalhada. Há um tecido adamascado que era muito fino à época. O vestido sobre a cama está todo bordado!

The Earl's bedroom is furnished with a rich carved bed. There is a velvety fabric which was very refined at that time. The dress oven the bed is all embroidered!

North Solar

Aqui era o apartamento particular da família do conde. Os painéis de carvalho são do século 16.

This one was the private quarters for the Earl's family. The oak panels are from the 16th century.

Ao lado havia também uma pequena capela.

Next to it there was a small chapel.

Leuchterweibchen

Estas figuras femininas penduradas nos tetos são de origem alemã eram usadas como decoração e candelabros e eram símbolo de status e poder.

These female figures hanging on the ceiling have German origin, they were used as decor and chandeliers, and were symbols of status and power.

Despensa do Conde / Earl's Pantry

Aqui funcionava uma pequena cozinha que atendia a família do Conde.

Here is where a small kitchen worked, which served the Earl's family.

Quarto dos Sacerdotes / Robbing Room

Aqui, como indica o nome, ficavam os religiosos

Here, as the name says, is where the religious people stayed.

South Solar

Neste setor ficavam o apartamentos dos hóspedes. O belíssimo teto é uma réplica em estilo Tudor.

On this sector were the guests apartments. The lovely ceiling is a replica in Tudor style. 

Torres / Towers

Visitando o Bunratty Castle você também terá acesso ao topo das torres e pode apreciar belas paisagens da região.

Visiting Bunratty Castle you will also have access to the top of the towers and you can enjoy the lovely landscapes of the region.
