Her real name is Eithne Ni Bhraonáin and Enya would be to approximate pronunciation of her celtic name. She was born a a little town on Donegal County in 1961.

Em 1991 lançou Shepherd Moons e o sucesso continuou.

Enya demora no mínimo 3 anos para compor um novo álbum. Além de cantar ela escreve e compõe todas as suas músicas e toca piano, violino, harpa e teclado.

Depois disso ela quis dar uma parada de 7 anos e está lançando no dia 20 de novembro o seu mais novo trabalho Dark Sky Island.
