Good Food (and cheap) in Dublin

Hoje o Welcome to Ireland te conta um pouco sobre alguns dos lugares que temos ido ultimamente para comer um lanche rápido ou simplesmente tomar um café.

Today Welcome to Ireland tells you a little about some of the places we have been going lately to get a quick snack or simply to have a cup of coffee.


BOOJUM

Boojum - Mexican Burrito Bar é uma rede de lanchonetes que está se espalhando rapidamente pela Irlanda. 
Além de Dublin há locais em Belfast, Galway e em breve no centro de Cork.

Boojum - Mexican Burrito Bar is a network of fast food restaurants that is spreading quickly around Ireland. 
Besides Dublin there are places in Belfast, Galway and soon on Cork city centre.

Os burritos são bem grandes e equivalem praticamente a uma refeição. Sempre há fila mas o atendimento é rápido. Você escolhe os tipos de recheios que quer e eles preparam ali na sua frente. 
O ambiente é bem informal, e cada burrito custa em média €6.

The burritos are big and are equivalent to a full meal. There is always a queue but the service is quick. You choose the types of fillings you want and they prepare there in front of you. 
The environment is very casual, and each burrito costs around €6.


HIPPETYS

O Hippety's é um verdadeiro achado no Temple Bar se você quiser fugir dos típicos PUBS da região. 
A decoração é encantadora com lustres coloridos no teto e rádios antigos na parede. É um lugar onde você se sente confortável e bem acolhido.

Hippety's is a hidden gem at Temple Bar if you want to escape from the typical PUBs in the region.
Decoration is charming with colorful chandeliers on the ceiling and old radios on the wall. It is a place where you feel comfortable and well received. 

A sopa do dia era deliciosa e feita com produtos orgânicos. Os sanduíches  muito frescos e havia opções para vegetarianos como  hambúrgueres de feijão.
Hippetys é um lugar tranquilo, descolado e ótimo para uma boa conversa. Fica na Cecilia Street em Dublin 2.

The soup of the day was delicious and made with organic products. The sandwiches were very fresh and there were options for vegetarians like beans hamburguers.
Hippetys is a peaceful and cool place, great for talking.

DEBENHAMS

Estávamos andando no centro de Dublin na Henry Street por volta das 18:00 e já todos os cafés estavam fechados! 
E a gente não tinha vontade de ir a restaurantes, queríamos apenas fazer um lanche e tomar um café. Então tivemos a ideia de experimentar o Café do Debenhams (rede de lojas muito conhecida aqui na Irlanda e Reino Unido). 
E  foi uma grata surpresa. O Alex pediu uma batata recheada que foi uma das melhores que já comemos na Irlanda. Pois já tivemos o desprazer de pedir este tipo de batata e ela vir fria. Mas esta veio bem quentinha e com muito recheio.
Eu pedi uma sopa que estava muito bem feita, com muitas verduras. O café também super gostoso.
E a sobremesa não ficou atrás, deliciosos profiteroles com creme e cobertura de chocolate.
E veja na foto abaixo que o horário de atendimento é um pouco mais estendido do que a maioria dos cafés da Irlanda.

We were walking at Dublin city centre on Henry Street around 6PM and all cafes were closed! 
And we didn't feel like going to restaurants, we just wanted to have a snack and some coffee. Then we had the idea of trying the cafe at Debenhams (chain of department stores very well known here in Ireland and the UK). 
And it was a a good surprise. Alex ordered a baked potato which was one of the best we had here in Ireland - once we alkready had in the past the displeasure or ordering such dish and it came cold. But this one came very hot and with loads of fillings.
I ordered a soup which was very well done, with loads of vegetables. The coffee was also very delicious.
For dessert it was also a good experience, delicious profiteroles with whipped cream and chocolate topping.

Have a look at the picture below - the opening hours are a bit more extended than most of the cafes here in Ireland.

Cathedral Cafe

A St Patrick's Church é um dos lugares mais visitados de Dublin e você estiver alí por perto que tal tomar um uma bebida quente num café temático religioso? O lugar tem poucas mesas e nas paredes há muitas figuras de santos e religiosas. 
Música clássica ou new age de fundo. 
Pedimos um Mulled Apple (suco de maçã quente com especiarias muito comum aqui na Irlanda no inverno), um chai Latte e uma torta de maçã e achamos todo o ambiente bem curioso e interessante.

St. Patrick's Church is one of the most visited places in Dublin and if you are around the area how about having some hot drink in a thematic religious cafe? The place has few tables and on the walls there are many figures of saints and religious people.
Background classical or new age music.

We ordered a Mulled Apple (hot apple juice with spices that are very common here in Ireland for the winter), a chai Latte and an apple pie, we thought all the environment was very curious and interesting.

Há um cantinho onde pode pegar um dos livros que eles têm para os clientes.
Se está procurando um lugar diferente, atendido pelos próprios donos e fugir das grandes redes internacionais, dê uma passada no Cathedral Cafe que fica da Dean Street (D8), é só atravessar a St Patrick's Church.


There is a corner where you can pick one of the books they have for the customers. 

If you are looking for a different place, served by the owners and escaping from the big international chains, give a try on the Cathedral Cafe which is on Dean Street (D8), you just need to cross the street from St Patrick's Church.
