Handcrafted Ice Cream in Ireland
E foi num desses dias que conhecemos a sorveteria Scoop na Aungier Street. Esta é a segunda loja, a primeira abriu no verão passado em Ranelagh.
Spring has started to flourish in Ireland. Last weekend we had amazing sunny days. And it was in one of these days that we found the ice cream shop Scoop on Aungier Street. This is their second store, the first one opened last summer in Ranelagh.
The colours used in the decoration are blue, red and white. Simple but very pleasant. There are places to sit indoors and outdoors.
The gelatos are all made daily in store with the best Italian and Irish ingredients. We tasted a flavour called Sole & Luna, really delicious, one scoop is a very generous size.
There are many options for toppings, but the ice cream is so good it can be tasted by itself. There were also flavors like vanilla, mint, chocolate, salted caramel, malteser, hazelnuts, Oreo, etc.
The crepes are on the French style, and go from the traditional ones with lemon and sugar, crêpes suzette, nutella, banana, strawberry and there is even a version with blue cheese, wallnuts, pear and honey. There is also a gluten free version. The Waffles are made like in Belgium, one of them is even made with Belgian chocolate.
Are you looking for drinks? The Shakes are prepared with organic Irish milk. And if you prefer a good warm drink you can choose between the hot chocolate (traditional, nutella and Belgian), coffee (artisan toasted) and tea. Once we were on a hurry we couldn't taste all we wanted, but we will for sure visit Scoop again on the following weeks.
Other ice cream shops we recommend: Gelato di Natura - there is a wide variety of flavours, a delicious coffee and pastries like cakes and cookies. Recomendation Welcome to Ireland: dulce de leche.
Gino's Gelato is a classic ice cream shop in Ireland, with several stores spread around the country. All the milk they use is organic, no additives or preservaties are used on the composition of ice cream, and they have gluten free options. You will also find coffee, crepes and waffles. Recomendation Welcome to Ireland: pistachio
Murphy's is an incredible ice cream shop that was born in the small town of Dingle on county Kerry. Here the quality on the use of products is extremelly high. No colouring, powdered milk or flavoring of any kind. Eggs and sugar are organic. According to the ice cream shop, the milk used is from a specific cow on county Kerry that makes the ice cream even creamier. There you will find different flavours like: Caramelised Brown Bread, peanutts and even some alcoholic ones like Gin and Irish Coffee. Recomendation Welcome to Ireland: Dingle Sea Salt (let yourself be surprised by this flavour, which is a classic on the ice cream shop). There are always new flavours so it is worth going there to see their novelties. There are shops in Killarney, Dingle, Cliffs of Moher and in Dublin. We have been to all of them! Do you think we like Murphy's ice creams?
