Colcannon - Prato Típico Irlandês - Typical Irish Dish

Assim como muitos brasileiros comem arroz e feijão quase todo dia, para um bom irlandês o alimento que não pode faltar à mesa é a batata. Aqui ela é consumida de todas as maneiras que você pode imaginar!!!
E há algumas variações que são novidade para a gente. Como é o caso do Colcannon. No Halloween é colocado algum objeto dentro da comida e a pessoa que o pega é a sortuda. Essa tradição também existe no bolo Barm Brack que a gente já falou aqui. Imagino quantos dentes foram quebrados com essa antiga tradição!!!
No filme In America (no Brasil Terra dos Sonhos), do irlandês Jim Sheridan, há uma cena onde os personagens comem este prato.

Just as many Brazilians eat rice and beans almost everyday, for a typical Irish the type of food that can't me missed on a meal is the potato. Here it is eaten in a lot of different ways, more than you can imagine!!!
And there are a few variations that are new for us. This is the case of the Colcannon. On Halloween an object is inserted inside the food and the person who finds it is lucky. This tradition also happens with the  Barm Brack cake, which we have already written about here. I wonder how many teeth were broken with this old tradition!!!
At the movie In America, by the Irish Jim Sheridan, there is a scene where the characters eat this dish.

Mas voltando ao Colcannon. Trata-se de um prato muito simples e bem gostoso que vai bem com todo tipo de carnes.

But returning to the Colcannon. It is a very simple and tasty dish, which goes well with all types of meat.

Você só precisa de batata, cebolinha, manteiga, sal, pimenta e couve frisada. Se quiser fazer a receita e não achar a couve frisada pode fazer com a couve tradicional mesmo.

You just need potatoes, spring onions, butter, salt, pepper and curly kale. If you want to make the recipe and you can't find the curly kale, you can use the traditional kale.
