Neste mês de junho se comemora  na Irlanda os 150 anos do nascimento do grande escritor irlandês William Butler Yeats, mais conhecido como W. B. Yeats. Clique neste site e veja os eventos que ocorrerão durante todo o ano de 2015 em homenagem ao escritor. 

This June it is commemorated in Ireland the 150 years of the birth from the great Irish writer William Butler Yeats, more known as W. B. Yeats. Click on this site and have a look at the events taking place during the whole year of 2015 in the writer's honor. 

Nos seus 73 anos de vida ele teve uma vida riquíssima.
Nasceu em Dublin mas considerava Sligo o seu verdadeiro lar, tanto é que morreu na França mas pediu para ser enterrado na sua amada Sligo.

On his 73 years of age he had a very rich life.
He was born in Dublin, but he considered Sligo as his real home, prove of this is that he died in France, but had requested to be buried in his beloved Sligo.

Como escritor teve várias fases bem distintas, sendo a primeira muito barroca e romântica. Mais tarde escreveria de forma mais moderna e austera. Sempre produziu muito, foi admirado e reconhecido pelo seu trabalho. Ganhou o Prêmio Nobel de Literatura em 1923 "pela sua poesia sempre inspirada, que através de uma forma de elevado nível artístico dá expressão ao espírito de toda uma nação". Suas obras receberam dezenas de outros prêmios.

As a writer he had several very different phases, being the first one very baroque and romantic. Later he wrote in a more modern and austere way. He always produced a lot, he was admired and recognized by his work. He won the Literature Nobel Prize in 1923, "by his always inspired poem, which through a high artistic level way gives expression to the spirit of a whole nation". His works received dozens of other prizes.

Yeats e outros intelectuais foram os responsáveis pelo Renascimento Literário Irlandês. Movimento que visava a valorização da literatura, cultura e folclore irlandês. A casa desse movimento foi o Coole Park em Galway, que a gente já mostrou no Welcome to Ireland. Clique aqui . 
Durante este período ajudou a fundar o Abbey Theatre em Dublin.

Yeats and other intellectuals were the responsible for the Irish Literary Renascence - Movement targeting to value the irish literature, culture and folklore. The house for this movement was Coole Park in Galway, which we have already shown on Welcome to Ireland. Click here. 
During this period he helped to found Abbey Theatre in Dublin.

Yeats desenvolveu um lado místico e religioso muito pronunciado. Formou com alguns amigos a Orden Hermética de Dublin. E com a esposa desenvolveu a "escrita automática" , que " é o processo de produção de material escrito que objetiva evitar os pensamentos conscientes do autor, através do fluxo do inconsciente".

O escritor ainda teve tempo de se dedicar à Política! Foi um senador dedicado mas com algumas posições políticas polêmicas.

Yeats developed a very pronounced mystical and religious side. He organized with some friends Dublin's Hermetic Order. And with his wife developed the "automatic writing", which is the "production process of written material, targeting to avoid the author's conscious thoughts, through the subconcious flow".

The writer still had time to get involved with politics! He was a dedicated Senator, but with some very polemic political positions.
