Irish Open 2014

Como a gente já falou no último post o verão aqui na Irlanda (e na Europa também) é vivido com toda a intensidade. Em Nice estava rolando um grande Festival de Jazz ao ar livre, por exemplo.
Há todo tipo de festival e evento!! É só escolher o que mais te agrada.
Em Cork tivemos o CORK MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL. Com muitas apresentações de rua, shows de todo tipo e as já típicas barraquinhas de comida.

As we have spoken on our last post, summer here in Ireland (and in Europe, too) is lived with intensity. In Nice they were having a great outdoors Jazz Festival, for exemplo.
There are loads of festivals and events!!! You just have to choose the one you like the most.
In Cork we had the CORK MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL. With many street presentations, shows of all kinds and the typical food tents.

Um grande evento esportivo que teve aqui em Cork foi o Irish Open, torneio europeu de Golf que foi realizado no Fota Island, um resort famoso da cidade.
Foi muito interessante acompanhar um campeonato totalmente inédito para nós. Que funciona mais ou menos da seguinte maneira: você vai acompanhando os jogadores em cada tacada pelos lindos campos. Em algumas áreas tem arquibancadas mas no geral tem que andar bastante.
Tudo é feito silenciosamente, sem conversas ou risadas pois o silêncio tem que ser quase total. Para que as pessoas não esquecessem disso havia gente segurando plaquinhas pedindo silêncio quando os jogadores iam fazer uma jogada.

A great sports event we had here in Cork was the Irish Open, European Golf Tournament which was hosted at Fota Island, a famous resort in the city.
It was very interesting to follow a totally new championship for us. It works more or less in the following way: you follow the player every time they hit the ball across the beautiful fields. In some areas there are places to seat like a stadium, but in general you have to do loads of walking.
Everything is made in silence, without people talking or laughing because the silence needs to be almost fully. In order for the fans not to forget about , there were people holding small signs requesting silence when the players were going to hit the ball.
