O Dia que Os Simpsons Visitaram a Irlanda - The Day The Simpsons visited Ireland

A série de animação Os Simpsons é o programa mais longevo da TV americana a ser exibido em horário nobre. Já está em sua 25a. temporada!!
O criador Matt Groening é mordaz em sua crítica à sociedade e aos atuais valores.
Com certeza você já deve ter assistido alguns episódios pois são exibidos tanto na TV aberta como em canais a cabo. O humor, a ironia e o deboche fazem parte desta série de enorme sucesso. E não foi diferente no episódio em que esta amarelada família visita a Irlanda. Algumas pessoas ficam um pouco indignadas. Mas a maioria acha tudo muito engraçado.

The animation series The Simpsons is the long-standing program on American TV being shown at prime time. It is on its 25th season!!!
The creator Matt Groening is sarcastic in its critics to society and to the present values.
You have certainly watched some episodes, because they are shown both on open TV and on cable channels. The humour, the irony and the debauchery are part of this great success series. And it was not different on the episode in which this yellow family visits Ireland. Some people get a little angry. But most people think it is very funny.

Hommer decide levar o seu pai a um Pub na Irlanda.  Já que lá foi um dos momentos mais felizes de sua vida. As referências à Irlanda começam com o nome do episódio "Em Nome do Avô" (temporada 20), uma clara referência ao filme "Em Nome do Pai".
Os pilotos do avião são duendes leprechauns!!!
Quando chegam ao país está tudo mudado. A Irlanda é agora um país moderno e os Pubs não são mais como antigamente. Enquanto Hommer e o pai enchem a cara neste Pub totalmente vazio. Marge e as crianças resolvem dar uma volta.

Hommer decides to take his father to a Pub in Ireland, once one of the happiest moments of his life was there. The references to Ireland start with the name of the episode - "In the Name of the Grandfather" (season 20), a clear reference to the movie "In the Name of the Father".
The airplane pilots are Leprechauns!!!
When they arrive the country is all changed. Ireland now is a modern country and the Pubs are no longer like in the old days. While Hommer and his father get drunk on this totally empty Pub, Marge and the children decide to go for a stroll.

Vão à Calçada do Gigante (que fica na Irlanda do Norte), à fábrica da Guinness (local mais visitado da Irlanda com 4 milhões de visitas anuais) e conhecem o Blarney Castle aqui de Cork!!! They go to the Giant's Causeway (which is in Northern Ireland), Guinness Storehouse (the most visited place in Ireland, with 4 million visitors a year) and they visit Blarney Castle here in Cork!!! Click here to see our post about the Castle. Marge is not very sure she wants the gift of eloquence in exchange for kissing a stone. And Bart gets out of the line and plays one of his tricks...

Há diversas outras citações, como aos filmes Apenas Uma Vez (Once) e As Cinzas de Angela (Angela´s Ashes) então vai ser mais engraçado ainda se você tiver assistido a esses filmes.
Hommer e o pai bebem tanto que no meio da bebedeira acabam comprando o Pub que está às moscas.
No fim o pai de Hommer diz  num tribunal que se sente feliz em ter voltado à Irlanda  mesmo o país não sendo como era antes. O juíz, com cara de Mr Potato Head(!), diz: "melhorou muito desde que mandamos nossos idiotas e incompetentes aos Estados unidos".
Já nos últimos segundos aparece um trevo de 4 folhas vazado. Como sabemos os trevos irlandeses têm 3 folhas e não 4! Bom, talvez esta seja outra brincadeira....

There are several other citations, like the movies "Once" and "Angela's Ashes", so it will be even funnier if you have ever watched these films. Hommer and his father drink so much that in the middle of their drunkenness they end up buying this totally empty Pub. At the end, Hommer's father say in a court of law that he is happy to be back to Ireland even the country not being what it was before. The judge, looking like Mr. Potato Head (!) says: "it improved a lot after we sent our stupid and incompetent people to the United States."
And on the last seconds it shows a four leaf clover water mark. As we know, the Irish clovers have 3 leaves, not 4 - the Shamrocks! Well, maybe just another joke.....
