1916: Easter Rising - Levante da Páscoa
The Easter Rising was a movement that fought for the Irish independence and is celebrating its centenary in 2016.
The country is celebrating the date massivelly. Several events were scheduled to remember the date. On bookstores there are piles and piles of books about the conflict.
Ultimately, Ireland breathes constantly the Easter Rising - which failed, their main leaders were killed by the British government, but it was fundamental to land at the so longed for independence, only coming in 1922. On St Peter Church in Cork will take place many exhibits and events about the Rising.
It is worth going there (entrance is free) and learn a little bit more about this important historical fact. On the centre of the main hall were built white columns with the names of some of the victims that died during the conflict. Here were placed the names of members of the public (even children), who lost their lives.
This is the reproduction of the proclamation read by Pearse at the original size.
Reproduction of the recruiting made on the time - Reasons why you should join the Irish Citizen Army.
Before leaving the exhibit don't forget to get a leaflet with the schedule of the centenary celebration in Cork.
