Cervos em Dublin - Deers in Dublin
Phoenix Park is one of the largest public parks in Europe and there are loads of things to do there. One of them is watching the deers. It is a program in Dublin you shouldn't miss, mainly on sunny days. Yes, because similar to humans, they also like to have a sunbath at the park.
We didn't know if we would find just a few of them or if we would see at least one. We were lucky and saw hundreds of deers all around, as you can see in the pictures.
In a huge park like this we didn't know what would be the best place. After some investigations, we found out the Pope's Cross would be a good spot.
The Cross is a 35m high sculpture, built to celebrate the mass said by the Pope John Paul II in 1979, with the presence of more than 1 million people. Just reminding Ireland has a total of 4.5 million inhabitants.
And precisely on the Pope's Cross area we found the much expected deers.Hundreds of them.
This is something that charms both adults and children. They are lovely creatures.
Some details should be taken into consideration so this moment will be pleasant for both humans and animals.
A gente viu gente levando cenouras.
Always keep a safety 50m distance. And of course don't even think about touching them. Remember they are wild animals. On summer months it could be more dangerous because mothers protect their offspring of possible threats.
Always keep small children under supervision.
Be very careful with dogs, they can scare the deers which in turn could attack your dog. Don't feed the deers. Even if you have the best intentions, it could lead even to the death of the animal. We saw some people taking carrots. But the park administration requests emphatically it should not be done.
DeFollowing these advices, have fun with the deers, take several pictures and post on Facebook!
We have already written about Phoenix Park here and here.
