Two Strolls in Wicklow

No último post a gente falou sobre a tecelagem da Avoca em Wicklow e prometemos um post mostrando dois passeios que podem ser feitos ali por perto e que são muito interessantes.

On our previous post we wrote about Avoca's weaving mill in Wicklow and we promised a ost showing two strolls you can do in the region, which are very interesting.

RED KITE WALK

A Red Kite Walk é uma caminhada de nivel moderado de 2,5 Km em formato de loop na floresta Kilmagig. O estacionamento é na frente da Igreja do vilarejo de Avoca. Em alguns trechos da trilha a subida é um pouco mais acentuada, mas nada muito cansativo.

The Red Kite Walk is a 2.5 Km loop shaped moderate level walk on Kilmagig forest. The parking lot is in front of the church on Avoca town. In some parts of the trails it gets a bit more steep, but it is nothing very tiring.

É possível ver o pequeno vilarejo enquanto você anda pela trilha que é muito tranquila, quando fomos não havia ninguém. Há muitos pássaros também e dá para ouvi-los durante toda a caminhada.

It is possible to see the small town while you walk in the trail, which is very peaceful - when we were there, we didn't see anybody else. There are also many birds, and you can listen to their singing along the stroll.

A região é ponto de observação de birdwatchers. O Red Kite é justamente o mesmo nome de um pássaro que há por ali. Se quiser, pode levar o seu cachorro pois é permitida a presença de pets.

The region is a birdwatcher's obervation spot. Red Kite is precisely the name of a local bird. If you want you can take your dog, once pets are allowed there.

THE MEETING OF THE WATERS

A alguns poucos quilômetros da trilha fica o The Meeting of the Waters, que é onde o rio Beg e Avonmore se juntam para formar o importante Avoca River. Em um pequeno parque dá para ver exatamente o ponto onde eles se juntam, a natureza ao redor é deslumbrante.

A few quilometers from the trail is The Meeting of the Waters, which is where rivers Beg and Avonmore get merge to form the important Avoca River. In a small park you can see exactly the spot where they merge, the surrounding nature is amazing.

Nós fomos no começo da primavera onde as Cerejeiras estão totalmente floridas.

We were there on the beginning of Spring, when the Cherry trees are fully blossoming

Este lugar é importante também pois o famoso escritor, cantor e compositor irlandês Thomas Moore escreveu a célebre música The Meeting of the Waters.

This place is also important because the famour Irish writer, singer and composer Thomas Moore wrote the famous song The Meeting of the Waters.

O lugar é tão calmo e bonito que realmente inspira bons momentos de contemplação, ou de composição no caso de Thomas Moore.

The place is so calm and beautiful it really inspires good moments of contemplation - of composition as it was the case for Thomas Moore.

Ali ainda estão restos da árvore onde Moore teria descansado para escrever a letra da música.

The remainings of the tree under which Moore had relaxed to write the famous song are still there.

Não deixe de tomar um bom chá ou café na cafeteria que fica ao lado do parque. Os doces são deliciosos e você vai ter uma vista maravilhosa do Encontro das Águas. E se você preferir uma pint, no andar de cima há um bom PUB irlandês.

Don't miss having a good tea or coffee on the coffee shop next to the park. The pastries are delicious and you will have a wonderful view from the Meeting of the Waters. And if you prefer a pint, on the top floor there is a good Irish Pub.
