The New Lattes
Latte is my favorite coffee drink. Even as I write this post I have my cup here next to the computer. On supermarkets I always look for new types of Lattes which besides coffee and milk are also flavored.
Here in Ireland you can drink delicious lattes. Even in common places the drink is very well prepared. I almost became an specialist in lattes! hahaha
The North American chain Starbucks released every now and then limited editions of flavored Lattes, and I always taste them all.
Fall only starts for me after having my first Pumpkin Spice Latte. A while ago it was a hit on trending coffee shops the Lattes where instead of coffee they had another kind of ingredient that was more nutritious. The first was Matcha Latte - which is made with green tea, with many nutrients, and it is high in anti-oxidants. Currently it is easy to find it in several coffee shops.
But the trend didn't stop there. Natural product store The Hopsack from Rathmines, Dublin, has offerred some innovations for those who want to taste a nutritious and different latte like the Turmeric Spice Latte - it takes as the main ingredient a tuber that is being increasingly used by people because of its already proven health benefits: the turmeric.
This Latte also carries ginger, black pepper, cinnamon and you can choose from several types of vegetable milks. Mine was coconut milk. The taste is quite intense and strong.
Coffee shop Craked Nut in Camden Street (D2) has been presenting some new and healthy lattes in their menu.
The most famous is the Blue Latte or Smurf Latte as it is called by some. The colour is an intense blue due to an algae part of the mix, the E3 Live Algae. Besides, the drink is made with ginger, agave and almond milk.
The taste is quite different and the ginger leaves the latte really spicy. According to the coffee shop, E3 Live Algae is the most nutritious food ever invented by nature with many proteins, with more than 65 kinds of vitamins and minerals and rich in essential fatty acids. When we went we also tasted the pink Latte which is made with beets. It was a delight and the taste was much softer than the blue one.
Craked Nut is a coffee shop that offers some very interesting choices like super foods, vegan dishes and healthy snacks in general. We had a wrap with roast turkey, free range eggs, avocado and hazzelnut pesto.
There are also salads, soups and vegan energy balls and with low calories for a quick and healthy snack. There should be more places like this in Dublin.
On our Instagram and Facebook we always post places and coffee shops we visit here in Ireland. To follow us click here and here.
