An intense heat wave is hitting almost all Europe, the thermometers go beyond the 40 Celsius in many cities, and the hospitals are in red alert to receive dehydrated people, and also the ones with health problems due to the strong heat. But none of this is happening in Ireland! Fortunately this terrible heat mass didn't arrive here! In Cork we didn't go over 19 Celsius during the day, and many times it doesn't even get to this mark, staying around 15 or 16 Celsius as the maximum. The minimum temperatures are around 12 Celsius. It is very good to know we don't have to face so much heat as in most of the countries. We notice in Dublin the temperatures tend to be a little higher in the summer than Cork City. There the thermometers go a little over 20 Celsius during the day.
And as we always comment, during summer Europe boils! There are many activities, festivals, musical presentations, etc.
In June we had the Cork Midsummer Festival, where many artistic presentations took place around the city, even outdoors like in the parks. We watched a play in the festival called Friars Walk, which took place at the Dominican Priory here in Cork. It was a great opportunity to visit a new place for us, and with beautiful gardens. The play was about the incredible and real story of two Irish priests who decided to visit the Holy Land in 1550. The play was wonderful, and you had to move from one place to another as the performance was being developed.
We also had the Live at the Marquee, with several international and Irish attractions. We decided to watch Riverdance performance, which we have been willing to go for quite a while, and now we had the opportunity. We have already spoken about Riverdance on this post, click here.
A good program for all the family was the Shandom Street Festival with many attractions for the children, like food stalls, live music, etc.
More at the end of the month, it took place the Food Forum, where several food producers from Cork and Kerry presented their quality products. There were food for sale and tasting, besides demonstrations classes with the renowned and well known Irish chef Kevin Dundon.
All these events were previously informed on our fan page, apart of this we also post there fresh drinks we are tasting this summer, job opportunities we find on the streets of Cork, and much more. You just need to Like here.
And let's see what happened at Welcome to Ireland in June?

And once we are in the summer, nothing better than getting refreshed with Irish lemonades. There is even a recipe - Here.
In June, a certain Irish writer would have reached 150 years old. We spoke a little about this incredible poet here.

É uma maravilha que a Irlanda não tem essa onda de calor todo, acaba sendo um verão muito gostoso de aproveitar!
