Mercado Inglês - English Market
The English Market is a great meeting and shopping point for Cork's local residents, and touristic place which must be visited by tourists. Even Queen Elizabeth II visited it when she was in the city back in 2011.
It is located in the heart of Cork, with entrances on Grand Parade, Saint Patrick Street and through Princess Street. The best food from Cork and region can be found there, such as all sorts of meat, cheese, fish, fresh seafood, different types of vegetables, spices, seasonings, breads, pies, cakes, chocolates, wines and much more - as you can see in some pictures on this post.
The suppliers are Irish, but you can also find products from all over the world. The English Market kept its original structure almost unchanged from 1788 to 1980 when it was affected by a great fire. It started then an intense reconstruction work which was so good it took several prizes from European foundations, which are dedicated to the reconstruction of historical places. In 1986 there was another fire, but this time, fortunately, with less proportions. One of the areas in the Market has many vintage stores, have a look:
You can only have a cup of coffee at the English Market (it is opened Mondays to Saturdays) and already enjoy its delicious atmosphere.
And, of course, if you get hungry, you just need to climb some wood stairs and have a proper meal (recommendation from Welcome to Ireland: The beef and other types of meat served there are the best you will find in ireland), and if you are a little lucky you will be able to listen to excellent live jazz.
È excelente esse mercado realmente, tem de tudo (bom e mais um pouco), o almoço no restaurante de encima foi um dos melhores da minha vida, bjs.

ExcluirVale a pena para quem estiver por Cork.
Great place to have breakfast, lunch, a snack or just a cup or coffee. Or even to walk through it and enjoy the atmosphere. / Otimo lugar para um cafe da manha, almoco, lanche ou somente para uma xicara de cafe.. Ou mesmo para caminhar atraves dele e aproveitar a atmosfera.
