Stoneybatter Festival

O verão está cheio de eventos e festas ao ar livre. Este fim-de-semana ocorreu o Stonneybatter Festival, e teve o clima de evento do interior em plena Dublin - não poderíamos ter tido uma tarde mais adorável.

Summer is full of events and outdoor parties. This weekend was the Stonneybatter Festival, and had the mood of a small town event in the middle of Dublin - we could not have had a more lovely afternoon.

A rua principal do bairro, a Manor Street, foi fechada e lá ocorriam atividades para as crianças, música ao vivo, etc. A gente se divertiu muito com o campeonato de cachorros. O vencedor foi o Chewbaca,  o cão de óculos que você pode ver logo abaixo.


The main street of the neighborhood, Manor Street, was closed and there were activities for the kids, live music, etc. We had a lot of fun with the puppy championship. The winner was Chewbaca, the dog with glasses you can see just below.

Enquanto caminhávamos por ai, pedimos esta deliciosa bebida de frutas frestas.


As we walked around, we ordered this delicious fresh fruit drink.

Havia diversas barraquinhas com degustação de alimentos de lojas da região. 



There were several stalls with food tasting from local stores.

Esta outra doava livros. Eu escolhi o de Aromaterapia que está na parte esquerda da foto.

This other one donated books. I chose the Aromatherapy one that is on the left side of the photo.

Compramos um livro sobre Dublin 7, região que moramos aqui. Com direito a autógrafo do autor.


We bought a book about Dublin 7, the area we live in here - and with the author's autograph.

Uma grande mesa foi montada para servir um almoço elaborado por um dos PUB's da região. 


A large table was set up to serve a lunch prepared by one of the pubs in the area.

E o momento alto da nossa tarde foi o The Batter Bake Off Mrs Doyle's Tea Party, concurso para escolher o melhor bolo, sanduiche e biscoito feito pela comunidade.


And the highlight of our afternoon was The Batter Bake Off Mrs Doyle's Tea Party, a contest to choose the best cake, sandwich and biscuit made by the community.

Mrs Doyle (Pauline Mclynn) é a conhecida personagem da série humorística Father Ted, que servia incessantemente chás para o protagonista. A gente assistiu toda a série assim que chegou à Irlanda e rimos tanto que estamos sempre querendo rever os episódios que são constantemente reprisados na TV. A última temporada foi rodada há quase 20 anos e o protagonista, o humorista Dermot Morgan,  morreu logo depois de filmar as últimas cenas da terceira e última temporada. 


Mrs Doyle (Pauline Mclynn) is the well-known character in the humorous series Father Ted, who served incessantly teas to the protagonist. We watched the entire series as soon as we arrived in Ireland, and we laughed so hard we are always looking forward to reviewing the episodes that are constantly being re-played on TV. The last season was shot almost 20 years ago and the protagonist, comedian Dermot Morgan, died shortly after filming the last scenes of the third and last season.

Mas voltando ao Festival, ele contou também com a participação da apresentadora do Great British Bake Off Anna Nolan.  Uma grande mesa foi montada com muitos doces e sanduíches.

But returning to the Festival, it also had the participation of the Great British Bake Off presenter Anna Nolan. A large table was set up with lots of pastries and sandwiches.

O grande bolo vencedor foi este de abobrinhas e recheio de creme de limão. Muito bom!! Vou tentar reproduzir algo parecido em casa.


The big winning cake was this courgette and lemon custard filling. Very good!! I will try to reproduce something similar at home.

Paulinne é um amor de pessoa, muito simpática e provou tudo com muito carinho. Claro que aproveitei para tirar uma foto com ela! E tive vontade de agradecer por tantas risadas! Mas ela estava muito apressada e apenas agradeci pela foto. Veja este bolo com as miniaturas dos personagens da série Father Ted.

Paulinne is a really lovely person, very friendly and has tasted everything with much affection. Of course I took a picture with her! And I felt like thanking her for so many laughs! But she was in a hurry and just thanked for the photo. Watch this cake with the miniatures of the characters in the Father Ted series.
